Hooky fun

I have done it again, been M I A!!! Sorry!
Life happens and it gets in the way and before you know it, time has passed.
I have been making hats like crazy,  a couple cowls and since needed something fun. I pulled out the sampler I had started sometime giantess and have been going to town on her.  I'm quite pleased.
I LOVE this pattern. I love his blanket and have made a handful of these. Of course I have given them all away. I even gave my ripple to my 17 yr old niece. 😱 It's just who I am! I had every intention of keeping this one for myself,  I don't think that's going to happen. It is rather beautiful and yes I love the colors. You see I think I have a problem when it comes to color, maybe a bout of OCD. It is so hard for me to wing it, not having a color plan and then of course disrupting the rainbow that is forever flowing through my head!

If I am in love with anything in this whole wide world, it has to be rainbows and of course turquoise blue. I came across a new sampler blanket that I am dying to wip up! You can find it over at notyouraveragecrochet.com
The blanket is the as you go stripey.
I am already envisioning rainbowy goodness!  I love when I have my mojo.

WIPS and ideas

I have done a bit of crocheting this year.  I have made numerous blankets, big and small.  I have really slacked in taking pictures.  I did get a picture of the blanket I made for my Gram.
I was lucky to this one.  As you can see its on the back of my car as I was walking in to the post office.  The others I was in the rush rush and didn't take pictures.  I sent out I think six baby blankets.
I may have just fibbed, I think I may have semi part or maybe full pictures of the blankies.  Beware the cuteness may be too much for some!
Here is the blanket I made for baby #1 Emma

Baby #2 Hadleigh came 10 days later

Then a month or so later came baby #3 Savion

My pictures aren't great :( but it is a reminder to slow down and get those just finished pictures that  make my heart sing.

I did say that there were six babies, the other three were triplet girls.  I have only one picture of the three blankets. I made three different ones. I made two ripples, I think and a granny stripe. I used the same colors.

I also have a few other WIPS.  I promised myself that I wouldn't and well you know how it is, the mind goes crazy.  It's like being in the yarn store ladies, or for a kid in the candy store.  I want to try it all and I want that instant gratification! It's so not happening right now!  I believe I have 5 WIPS.  Two blankets

I made an infinity scarf the other day, started the Lucy cowl last night, started another infinity scarf yesterday at lunch and I might have already started another pair of fingerless mitts.
So I am busy busy!

Inspiration

I FOUND THIS AND  ANOTHER POST THAT SOMEHOW NEVER POSTED THIS PAST FALL..ENJOY THEY ARE NOW BONUS POSTS!

Lucy never seizes to amaze me.  I haven't really crocheted since before I left for Oregon.  I took a scarf with me but did not really work on it as much.  Prior to leaving for my trip I was working on projects for my swaps.  I still have one to finish.  Since I have been back I have not crocheted at all!!! This is bad, very very very bad!  I have two blankets to finish and one to start and have done before Christmas!  What am I thinking? This morning I was browsing Lucy again and she is always working on something colorful and fun.  I see it and start thinking I wanna make that.  Of course that is not happening at the moment.

She did  re-inspire me to get back in the wagon and finish the two blankets I have started.  One is closer to being finished than the other.  I can do this, I love working under pressure! Whose with me on this?

So with that, I have to clean and organize this weekend so I can find my projects and yarn before I can start!

Craziness

I haven't forgotten about you, I promise.  I have been rather busy this year.  I have had plenty of projects to keep me busy.  I am sad to say that I don't have many pictures to back this up.  Last night I took some time to make something for "ME!" It felt GREAT, I am half way done.  I plan to make the second one tonight and then it hit me lastnight, BUTTONS!  I have super great buttons!  I purchased some yummy buttons at the Makery in Bath, when I was there.
You can find the pattern here.  I absolutely love her blog! If you haven't checked it out, you have to its a MUST!!! These mitts are super easy and relaxing.  I started to over think my colors and had to stop.

Everyone has been having babies this year.  I made blankets for each one!
In March my best friend Bobby of forever had his first baby Emma.  10 days later my cousin had his second, a girl named Hadleigh.
In April my friend Shavonne had a boy Savion and two days later my friend Jen had triplet girls Brittney, Charlie and Kylee.

Babies are in season again, January and February 2014 is going to be busy for me once again.  Three of my cousins are having babies and one of the three is having identical twins.  Another friend is also pregnant and due in the beginning of the year.  What I wouldn't give for it to be my turn! One day...

In March I was lucky enough to travel to England and France.  I was in love with England prior to my trip and didn't want to leave once I was there.  I cannot wait to go back. I think about it and tears come to my eyes.

I spent a few days in London, visited Bath and Stone Henge.  I walked so much and mastered the tube.  While in Bath I was fortunate enough to visit The Makery Emporium, talk about love at first site.

I have so much that I want to share with you and to show.  I will make some time to talk about it this weekend.

How about I make a list:

Trip to Europe
Weight loss
Job search
Crochet
Love
Im sure there are some other bits too...

Crap...

Happy New Year everyone!  It is a new year and I am so excited!!! This year is my year. I am doing wonderful great things and bettering myself!!!

Things have been so crazy since I last posted.  I feel like I fell off the face of the earth! Things went all haywire when Sandy visited.  I just realized that I have not checked my email associated to this blog in a month or so.  I have had so many phone issues, I forgot Im not getting the email on my phone right now.  Thats how I stayed connected before.

Sandy made a mess you all know about it and I was also with out power for 9 days.  I did crochet...I worked on my Ripple.  I had not touched her since Jan 2012 and I made a bit of progress.  I needed something happy in my life and well there are tons of colors, it kept my spirits up.  I pulled her out lastnight and added two more colors in the sequence. I have 6 more total colors to add, which is 24 rows and then I have to decide on a border.  I am so excited to have almost completed my first blanket for myself.  You all know how it goes, always making for others and not yourself.

My last post was about the blankets I was making for my nieces and nephews for Christmas.  I finally and I do mean FINALLY finished them.  Such a great feeling.  I need to stop putting so much pressure on myself!  Over Thanksgiving I made a baby blanket for my bestfriend and his wife who are expecting their first baby this spring.  I also made two hats for baby Emma as well.  I have to run in the ends and get it packaged.  Baby blankets are so QUICK.  I make the summer ripple. I will have to link later.

I am currently working on a special project for someone in my life...I am excited to be done. I am more than half way.  It entails a bunch of counting so last night I took a break from it and pulled out my ripple.  I of course want to make another ripple and use some of my Lucy stash.  Yes I have quite the stash!  My niece got the lucy granny stripe and I did not want to give it away, but she LOVES it.

There are so many things I want to make and always feel like I have not enough time.  So many people I want to make for.  Back to baby blankets...there are a total of 8 babies being born this spring that I know of.  I luckily got one of the seven done.  I get to make two baby boy blankets and 5 girls. One of which is done.  I have a friend who lives in Wisconsin and she is having triplet girls.  So I am excited to see what I can come up for her.

Oh my gosh I could go on and on.  I guess my next post should be something with pictures of what has been keeping me busy! Im coming back ladies!

Blankets and such...

I feel like I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off since I got back from my trip to Oregon.  I have been working like crazy, babysitting as much as possible on the side and getting as much crocheting in as possible.  Christmas is right around the corner and I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little stressed.  I am making four blankets for presents this year.  I finished one in the very beginning of August, started the third with in 30 minutes of completing the first blanket.  The second recently came out of hibernation.  As it stands I could potentially finish either the 2nd or 3rd blanket this weekend.  More than likely the 2nd one.  Its all put together and I still have to add a few more rows for the border and put a cute edge on it.  The 3rd well, I cannot wait to be done.  I am at the point where I am bored with it and the 2nd blanket.  Here is the 2nd as I left lastnight...
Here is a reminder of what the 3rd looks like...
This was when it was first started, I honestly thought I had a more up to date picture. I will have to work on that this weekend.

Since I am showing off the other two may as well remind you all of the first!
Oh yes, look at that granny goodness!

I have to start the 4th.  I have the yarn but am uncertain as to a pattern.  I thought I had one picked out and I started playing with it lastnight and its not a good fit.  I plan on using camoflauge yarn and possibly incorporating green, brown and or black into the blanket.  I have enough camoflauge yarn and would love to use as much as possible, if not then I can use it for another blanket.

There are so many crafty things I wanna make right now. I am really wanting to sew more, but fabric is so expensive. I really want to embroider but I am telling  myself no to anything until I get these blankets finished.

New family and memories

I had an amazing trip home to Oregon.  I did not get the chance to take many pictures, or rather I should say that I was way distracted.  On this trip to Oregon it did not rain even once, it was rather hot during the day with the mornings and evenings much cooler.  I made due, but was not pleased.

I got to see just about everyone I wanted to see and unfortunately there were a few I did not.  Most importantly I saw my nephews K & T who are 9.

I also got to see my niece A who is the twins older sister and she is 16.  I unfortunately did not get a photo of just her and I like I wanted.  My mom, A and I went to see my grandfather.  It was an incredible feeling to have 4 generations together. Here are three of u, minus my mom.

I was so happy and very lucky to of been able to change my flight information.  I waws able to extend my trip by two days and attend a family reunion on my moms mothers side.  My Grandmother passed away at the age of 36 and my Grandfather kept his children from her side of the family for whatever reasons.  Seven years agon I had the chance to meet my Grandmothers youngest brother.  My Great Uncle C is such a wonderful, sweet and caring man. Thinking of him brings tears to my eyes.  At this reunion I was able to meet my other Uncle F.  He is without a doubt one of the cutest men I have ever met.  My Great Uncle Fs smile warms my heart just thinking about it.  He was so nice, happy and accepting.  I thought my three uncles were wonderful but I think my great uncles have them beat.  (F on the left and C on the right)

I was also surprised at the reunion. No one ever surprises me and it is a hard to do!  I say that beacause I kind of consider myself the Matriarch. My baby cousins M & C whom I love with all of my heart surprised me by showing up.  They made me cry and it was quite the reunion

The crem de la creme on the day of the reunion was getting to meet my Great Great Aunt A.  GGA is my great grandmas sister.  She is the last one of her siblings.  I got to speak with her a few years ago and was unable to meet her.  Due to her health she was unable to come to the reunion that was literally 2 blocks away.  So afterwards we all went over to see her.  She suffers from Alzheimers.  Meeting her was so very emotional for me.  Mind you my mom and I went with her uncles, cousins and my grandmas cousins.  I started crying because I was so happy to see her and meet her.  Taking in the situation all around.  There was about 12-16 of us all there to see her.  That is love, I think she was overwelmed and she did recognize her daughter L.  My mom and I were introduced.  Anytime someone was introduced or just went up to say hi, the first words out of her mouth were "Bless your hearts." & "I love you so much."  Shes 88, will be 89 in March and hope that she is around for a while longer and that I have the chance to go and see her again.  She is sitting in the picture.

So all in all my trip was wonderful.
